Super Rex was created in support of the Mindstorms Community Partners (MCP) Trans Atlantic Challenge (TAC) competition.  Super Rex is a humanoid robot that has use of both arms.  Super Rex is also capable of both left and right turns.

One NXT is used to run the legs.

One NXT is used to run the right arm.

One NXT is used to run the left arm.

Each NXT is fully loaded with 3 motors.  The NXTs communicate with each other using the Bluetooth interface.

Team B2 Creations - Super Rex

All 3 NXTs are mounted in the torso along with the shoulder motors

Feet are large enough to make Rex stable and difficult to push over

Ultrasonic sensor inside of the protective helmet can detect objects in front of Rex

Turning mechanism located in the left foot allows turning in either direction

Note—no video of the robot moving is posted at this time.  We (the American Team) don’t want to give away all of our secrets to the European Team before the competition takes place...We figure it is risky enough just to show a robot in pictures.

(rear view) Weight is located so the center of gravity is roughly over the center of the feet
